While I don't think we should completely abandon Sealed PTQ's I think each season can afford to have a few sealed events mixed in. alot of the Professional-level TO's get at least 2 qualifiers a season, if they did one constructed and one sealeddraft I think that would be respectable. although I do hate sealed so very much, mostly because my pack luck is horrendous.

It seems like it would be rather strong, I mean you're not ramping up to 9 for the Wave for 6 to hit titans. but I can see a wave for 3 being good, with 4 being brutal.

Yeah, that might actually be the way to go- put sealed yearround as about half the PTQs online during any given season, have a couple of sealed GPs with day 2 draft, and call it a day.

There's precedent for split-format PTQs, by the way: Ravnica block sealed PTQs had Coldsnap draft for the top 8. Unfortunately, that was a massive downgrade…

In reply to @JoshJMTG. For what it's worth, I'd vote for you as Overlord of PTQ Scheduling and MTGO Subscription Services. ;) Sealed PTQs are also pretty sweet on MTGO where it does away with the obnoxious deck registration/swapping process.

In reply to dtlerch. Now we have a Block Constructed PT fed by Extended PTQs! I sort of wish they'd bring back Block Constructed season and do away with this sealed deck nonsense. Give us Extended in fall when we don't have a lot of the new block, Standard in spring when we've got most of it, and Block in summer when the whole block is out. Make the PTQs mixed-format like the Pro Tour with a draft top 8 (!) and sealed deck could be left to just a few GPs and prereleases. (I know, I know, it'd never happen.)

I'm normally extremely skeptical of "The Rock"-style archetypes, whether Green/Black or other, but the list from the article does look extremely powerful.

Makes me long for the days where the Extended PT was fed by Block Constructed PTQs.

I was actually just messing around with block on MTGO tonight and was playing the red list. I'm pretty sure I'm doing a lot wrong so far.

Can't see why the green infect list wouldnt want some number of mimic vats running putrefax and corruptor though.

That rock deck looks fun, that's gonna be the next one I try out.

You may get another one or two before the new set comes out on Magic Online, though. The next two weeks' articles will be related to SCG Atlanta (before and after).

Great article. I always like hearing about block and thinking about what new standard will look like after rotation. I would love to keep reading about block and a followup would be great. If nothing else, maybe you could run an updated article after the new set comes out.
