I don\’t see how paying a quarter for a card that\’s worth $3 later is a bad deal because you didn\’t pay a dime.

the mtg market is big enough to absorb buys. btw, you aren’t looking to turn 5 cents into 50 cents. you want a 2/3$ card.

You can only try and understand someone’s reasoning behind a call and then make your own decision. no one is forcing you to buy anything. trading away a small position at local FNM games is easy enough that including a 10$ investment in this card among another 90$ in similar instruments creates very little risk for the speculator. i think this is what the author means by, “intrinsic value” of bulk rares although i think that is a very misleading description.

Ryan was buying in at $.05-$.10 and has convinced so much of the community to follow suit that the card has now reached a low of ~$.58 which in the end only really benefits Ryan. None of the Seance decks in Cincinnati did very well* or received any coverage so a whole lot of speculators are left holding the ball except for the guy that originally bought in and convinced everyone else that he should profit from it.

*from my understanding apparently one person went 7-2 with it, but didn’t receive any kind of coverage for it, while most of its other pilots didn’t do very well at all.
