I do not personally program our bot but I do have a computer science degree(who doesn’t these days?). WoTC wants us to use OCR and they also want us to make sure the bots cannot do anything that a human could not do.

I’m sure there are some other ways to program a bot that I did not mention but I’m not an expert in that area so I would not feel comfortable trying to answer your question. Sorry 🙁

Just MTGO for now. We would need a ton more volume to try to do that with paper. MTGO is much more fluid since you can instantly buy and then resell a card a few seconds later since you do not have to actually ship something. I think a “flag” system would be much more realistic in paper to help us catch cards going up quickly or ones that we have been sitting on for too long and are not moving. We have a way to identify those cards but we still have to edit them manually.

Glad you found it valuable. All credit goes to Heath, who is a member of our community and is active in the QS forum on MTGO. As you build your portfolio I recommend you check out those forums for real-time analysis of cards and trends as they happen.

Not sure what is the deal with the V3, but current Beta Client is written entirely in .NET and as such it should be pretty easy to interact with using standard application automation techniques.

Also – as far as I can tell they no longer “render” the UI but use .NET mechanisms to customize the controls which means you should not have to use OCR.

Any thoughts on this?

Do you use automated pricing on MTGO only or are you using one for paper as well?

1. It was at first and it’s how we got all of our inventory at first at CFG. After WoTC upped the redemption fee we really cut down on how much we redeem and instead focus on getting more buylists and paper collections for MTGO credits. We do still redeem some but you have to time it right.

2. Automated pricing was huge for us and really changed the game. I would like to have some sort of alerts where when a certain card starts getting mentioned on various sites or something to automatically change cards the second the banlist is posted.

I have two questions for you Heath,

1- I guess it’s a real plus to have a physical Mtg store in addition to Mtgotraders. Is the redemption of sets a real thing for you?

2- Is there any tool/program/ you wish you have for your Mtgo business? Whether it is in terms of collecting/having more information about the market and cards, or a tool to more efficiently buy/sell cards?

Oh yeah, and I think Heath is bang on with his assessment of speculating on boosters. THS boosters are too cheap right now.
