I opened a god starter deck of revised back in 95. It had the normal 3 rare slots but instead of having the basic lands, like it should have, all of those slots were also rares.

This is a great tactic to encourage people to open more boxes. I saw someone open a Japanese RTR box with 18 foil rares and 18 foil mythics. It was nuts.

I was present in 1994 for the opening of a “God” box of Legends. It was a store box and freshly opened with a number of people around waiting for legends packs (which were already scarce) so a number of people got into it for packs before someone scooped the remainder realizing what had happened.

Closest to a god box I ever witnessed = box where boosters of one of the columns had the 3 uncommons replaced by rares (so 1/3), leaving 6 people with double amount of rares in their sealed pool (*)!

(*) Each of them received two rows = 2 good boosters (2×4) + 4 normal boosters

For me it was over 12 years ago when I witnessed a guy open a box of Nemesis and every card in it was foil.

Too bad Nemesis was such a jank set.

In reply to pi. Closest thing I've come to strange card allocation in packs was the same common 2x in a Ravnica Tournament Pack (both non-foil). Not exactly spectacular even if Lurking Informant wasn't half bad if you had the goods to go Dimir mill (unfortunately I didn't have quite enough of it in that sealed pool).

The organizer of the convention I used to visit back in the early 00’s once opened a god box. He was disappointed: it was a box of Fallen Empires and he was looking to replenish the money commons… One of the people listening in confirmed he suddenly had a lot of FE in his binders a while ago.

Knowing him I highly doubt it was a made up story.
