The more I stare at this card, the more I think this may be the worst Shock variant ever printed.
I was hoping Ferocious would make this deal 4 damage. Hell, even 3. You can't kill a pro-red creature with the "damage can't be prevented" trigger because you still can't target it. There are very, very few cards in this block that prevent damage, and in the case of single cards, they're using it to stop 2 damage.
This is better than regular Shock but it's also uncommon. I think you take this mid to late if you're red but unless I'm really misjudging this card, I'm really not excited about it. It's obviously decent and as playable as Shock, but being uncommon hurts it. I am not disappointed in this card in and of itself as much as I am disappointed that it could have been so much better and still been very fair and balanced at uncommon.
I think you take this early/mid – 1 mana to get rid of a morph/manifest is pretty sweet.
Do you think we’ll see constructed play out of this card?
It deals with Seeker of the Way, Soulfire Grand Master, and Goblin Rabblemaster for 1 mana.
I see it all the time in standard where player A sometimes only have 1 mana available because they play a tapped land (whether it’s a temple or a tri-land) on turn two and they are on the draw. Then player B plays Rabble Master on curve on 3 and then player A is behind because he has to spend mana killing Rabble Master on his turn instead of dealing with it on end step. (I suppose you can say the same for Seeker and Soulfire Grand Master).
