Some more ideas:

#I think that the deck doesn’t really need Street Wraith and can drop them for more gas in Sign in Blood/Night’s Whisper and removal like Dismember which all help with lowering the life total for Shadow and also count towards Bedlam Reveler unlike Wraith.

#What about Claim // Fame for this deck ?
It works well with reanimating (and hasting up) Shadow or M.Swiftspear (or Y.Pyromancer which I personally prefer) and has value in the GY if discarded to Looting earlier in the game.

#Would Phyrexian Unlife be good in the SB to improve (the horrible) Burn matchup with some application against other aggressive decks with reach ?
Or is Collective Brutality enough here ?

The SB seems a bit lacking in terms of GY-hate (only 1x Surgical) and artifact/enchantment removal.
I’d probably want to add Nihil Spellbomb and Wear // Tear or Anguished Unmaking and remove cards like Temur Battle Rage and Pyroclasm (and Dismember which can be moved to the maindeck).

Picker is too narrow for Modern. We don’t want to give up additional points against decks without creatures pre-board.

It isn’t good in combo matchups but can be easily enough a 1-mana 3/2 flier with enough maindeck removal.

And I think you’re right! It just takes the deck into a direction it needs to inch towards to have decent big mana and linear combo matchups, though at the cost of strategic focus. There very well may be a superior option for that role, too, but so far I’ve found Swift and Shadow better than alternatives when it comes to increasing proactivity.

Fair enough. I just think Swiftspear doesn’t really fit well with the rest of the deck.

I’ve found this as well but am iffy about going down on Swiftspears. The latest version does trim the Godless Shrine for a Dismember.

Another thing that’s come to my mind:
You should play more instant and/or sorceries. While testing the deck, I felt that the “spell density” was too low.

I am testing it with -2 Monastery, +2 forked bolt, +1dreadbore, -1land.

Not only do they wreck Reveler, but delve threats can’t be cast on turns 1-2, which is the point of that slot. If you’re looking for a more impactful midgame card there, try YP.

Interesting. IMO that stuff is a little clunky (Charm in particular I’ve felt is a trap since people started trying it in Shadow builds) but if you’re having success, keep doing it!

Delver can shutoff Bedlam. For me, is a nombo.

Three interesting cards to be tested:
Orzhov charm: terminate, reanimate and self damage in the same package.
Goblin bushwhacker: haste and +1 on Death’s shadow is something.
Hanweir Battlements: same reason.

Honorable mention: Ranger of Eos. Get two DS or 1 DS and a bushwhacker can help close the game.

This deck needs more threats like Shadow that are good through the entire game. Just getting one or two shocks out of a Swiftspear in the first turns seems pointless in a midrange strategy.
